"I'm patiently waiting for the day when Marvel Studios gets the rights to my character and includes me in one of their blockbuster movies. That's when I'll truly understand the whole picture," D'Onofrio shared during an interview with The Playlist's Bingeworthy podcast.
The upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is a Marvel Studios production, while the second season of 'Daredevil: Born Again', where D'Onofrio reprises his role as Fisk, is a Marvel Television creation. This distinction in production houses might be a key factor in Kingpin's absence from the Spider-Man franchise.
Furthermore, the film's director, Destin Daniel Cretton, confirmed in December that the fourth installment of the MCU's Spider-Man series has wrapped up filming. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' serves as a prelude to the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Doomsday', set to hit theaters on July 31st.
Cretton, known for his work on 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', will helm this project, with producers Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige returning. Zendaya will reprise her role as MJ, and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas will join the cast in undisclosed roles.
