The beef, produced on December 16, was distributed to several states, including California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Washington. It was sold under the brand 'Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef' with a use-by date of January 13, 2026. Consumers can identify the recalled product by looking for the establishment number 'EST 2083' on the packaging.
Here's where it gets crucial: E. coli contamination is no minor issue. It can lead to serious illness, and in some cases, even be life-threatening. Symptoms include diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach cramps, which can start anywhere from 1 to 10 days after exposure. But here's the twist: most people recover within a week, but for some, especially children under 5 and adults over 65, it can cause a type of kidney failure called hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).
